Philanthropy
Philanthropy Chairman

At Sigma Nu, we highly value philanthropy. We take all philanthropic efforts and benefits seriously and believe that a good, well-rounded fraternity and collegiate experience should include active participation in philanthropy events throughout the year.
We do not benefit only one philanthropy; rather, we help the causes of many organizations, such as the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation and the Breast Cancer Foundation (in conjunction with sororities). We've also contributed to fundraising efforts for our own fallen brother named Jim Berger. He died in the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001.
Our commitment to and pride in philanthropy demonstrates itself through our awards and recognition. We've received the Philanthropy Award from the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life (click the image below to expand it). Given to the chapter that exhibits the most successful and abundant charitable efforts, Sigma Nu held many great philanthropy events this year. Among those were two volleyball tournaments, participation in Chi Omega's Rock and Bowl (two teams), a wiffleball tournament, the Hoops for Hope Basketball Tournament with Kappa Kappa Gamma, and the Twister Tournament with Chi Omega.
In addition to charitable fundraising events, we also take part in a lot of community service. We went to the City Year site of the St. Thomas of Villanova Day of Service in Fall 2007. We are planning events with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, an off campus organization that involves college students serving as mentors/friends to inner city children. We are eager to further our image as a fraternity based in philanthropy and service to our great community.

The brothers of Sigma Nu held a Male Auction on the campus of Bryn Mawr College on Friday, October 28th in order to assist the Student Government Association of Bryn Mawr College with raising money for Hurricane Relief.
We are proud to report that we raised $1,165 for charity and are hoping to increase that number at our next auction. This figure does not include the many $1 Mardi Gras beads that we sold as well throughout the auction for charity.

April 10, 2003
As our fundraiser for this year, the Brothers decided to run a 50/50 fundraiser. We asked for the support of our alumni and we received an overwhelmingly successful response. We were able to raise enough money for pay for buses to our White Rose Formal, purchase customized jerseys for Greek Week, and pay off our remaining debt. Thank you for all your support. The following are the winners of the Raffle:
1st Prize: Joe Lavoritano (F69)
2nd Prize: Hank Engel (F69)
Mike Doyle (S72)
Sigma Nu Male Auction, Fall 2003
Despite snowfall during the day, the Brothers of Sigma Nu were still able to make the trip to the Campus of Bryn Mawr University to participate in their second Male Auction. This semester's participation raised over $1,000 that was donated entirely to Charity.
